Congressman Gabe Evans, who represents Colorado’s 8th congressional district, has recently posted a series of statements on his social media account addressing issues ranging from election security to energy reliability and national commemoration.
On February 11, 2026, Evans questioned the disparity between identification requirements for different activities. He stated, “Photo ID to enter the DNC — but not to vote? After @cosecofstate ‘accidentally’ sent 30,000 voter registrations to ineligible individuals, it’s clear we need safeguards. @HouseGOP’s SAVE Act requires proof of citizenship and photo ID. 83% of Americans support voter ID.”
The following day, on February 12, Evans commemorated President Abraham Lincoln. He wrote, “Today we honor the legacy of President Abraham Lincoln — a leader who preserved the Union and defended our freedom.”
In another post dated February 13, Evans addressed ongoing concerns about power reliability in his district: “CO deserves safe, affordable, and RELIABLE energy. But constant power shutoffs in #CO08 have made this impossible. I’m urging @govofco to take immediate action to strengthen our grid and prevent repeat shutoffs. Blackouts should be a last resort — not a recurring reality.”
Evans’ comments come amid broader debates over election integrity and energy infrastructure across the United States. In recent years, incidents involving mistaken voter registration mailings have led to increased scrutiny of state-level election administration practices. Additionally, frequent power outages in certain regions have sparked calls for improved utility management and investment in grid modernization.
