Congressman Gabe Evans, who represents Colorado’s 8th Congressional District, has posted a series of statements on social media regarding the impact of international criminal organizations in Colorado and recent law enforcement actions.
On January 4, 2026, Evans wrote: “Claims that Maduro has nothing to do with crime in Colorado don’t hold up. His regime backed TdA — a designated foreign terrorist organization that set up its national HQ in Denver. His arrest moves us one step closer to making Colorado communities safe again.”
Two days later, on January 6, 2026, Evans continued his focus on organized crime and public safety. He stated: “We know where the drugs come from — cartels, gangs, and criminal organizations, including Tren de Aragua here in Denver. This is actually putting teeth behind the talk about how we keep Americans safe. Maduro’s arrest puts us a step closer to that.”
Evans also commented on local sports developments. On January 5, 2026, he posted: “Broncos Country keeps winning. #1 in the AFC! “
Tren de Aragua (TdA), referenced by Evans as having its national headquarters in Denver according to his statement, is an internationally recognized criminal organization originating from Venezuela and involved in various illegal activities across multiple countries.
Nicolás Maduro is the president of Venezuela whose government has been accused by U.S. officials of supporting or tolerating transnational criminal activity linked to groups like Tren de Aragua.
Evans’ remarks reflect ongoing concerns among some U.S. lawmakers about international crime networks operating domestically and highlight law enforcement efforts targeting such organizations.
