Northern Colorado secured an 88-74 victory over Weber State on Thursday night at the Dee Events Center in Ogden, Utah. The Bears led from start to finish, building an early lead and maintaining control throughout the game. With this win, Northern Colorado improved its record to 14-10 overall and 4-7 in Big Sky Conference play.
The Bears established momentum early, using a 13-0 run in the first half to create a double-digit advantage. They extended their lead to as many as 19 points before halftime and entered the break ahead 42-33. After halftime, Northern Colorado continued its efficient offensive performance, shooting 64.3 percent in the second half and finishing at 59.3 percent for the game. The team limited Weber State’s three-point shooting, allowing just two makes out of seventeen attempts.
Quinn Denker led all scorers with 31 points on 12-of-19 shooting. It was his third game this season scoring at least 30 points and his second such performance in three games. Denker also contributed nine assists and five rebounds. His assist total now stands at 157 for the season, moving him into fifth place on Northern Colorado’s single-season list.
Ibu Yamazaki had a career-high night with 23 points on nine-of-eleven shooting, including five-of-six from three-point range. Brock Wisne added ten points and nine rebounds; he now has scored 1,262 career points, placing him fifteenth on Northern Colorado’s all-time scoring list and seventh in field goals made with 529.
Ring Nyeri provided additional support with thirteen points and helped spark transition plays for the Bears. Zach Bloch contributed six points along with four assists and two steals while continuing to climb both career and single-season leaderboards for three-pointers made (185), three-point attempts (469), games played (125), and steals (95).
Northern Colorado held advantages in several statistical categories: they outscored Weber State by four points in the paint (46-42) and doubled them up on second-chance opportunities (12-6). The Bears led for more than thirty-eight minutes of game time.
Looking ahead, Northern Colorado will face Idaho State Bengals on Saturday at ICCU Dome in Pocatello, Idaho at 4 p.m. MST; coverage will be available via ESPN+ and Pirate Radio.
