The CMS rated Devonshire Care Center 3 out of 5 overall, falling short of the 3.2 average for Colorado nursing homes.
Sterling Rehabilitation and Nursing, LLC was the second largest in Logan County that quarter, with 63 beds available.

U.S. Census Bureau estimates show a continued rise in the older adult population nationwide while the number of younger residents drops. From 2020 to 2024, the population of Americans age 65 and older rose 13%, and those under 18 declined by 1.7%. Over the last 100 years, the nation’s older adult population increased substantially, from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million by 2024.
A study published in 2021 estimates that nearly half of people age 65 or older—about 28 million individuals—will need long-term services and supports, and more than one-third may require nursing home care at some point.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
