Congressman Gabe Evans has recently addressed several national and state issues in a series of posts on his official Twitter account.
On January 19, 2026, Evans marked Martin Luther King Jr. Day by reflecting on the civil rights leader’s enduring impact. He wrote, “Today we honor the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. and his unwavering commitment to faith, courage, and service. May we strive every day to be judged by the content of our character and live out these values in our communities.”
The following day, Evans turned his attention to public health concerns in Colorado. On January 20, 2026, he stated, “While fentanyl overdoses are falling nationwide, Colorado’s are surging. Denver alone saw a 24% spike in just ONE year. This is the direct result of @GovofCO’s soft-on-crime policies that let deadly drugs flood our communities.” Recent data has shown that while fentanyl overdose deaths have decreased across much of the United States, Colorado has experienced an increase—particularly in Denver where city officials reported a significant rise over the previous year.
Later that same day, Evans commented on international criminal activity involving Venezuelan gangs and referenced recent developments regarding Nicolás Maduro. He posted, “For years Venezuelan gangs trafficked drugs into our country, costing the lives of over 400,000 Americans, and endangering countless others. Maduro’s arrest was not only lawful, but necessary — ensuring Americans and Venezuelans are safe from his criminal regime.” The U.S. government has long accused elements within Venezuela’s leadership of involvement in drug trafficking operations impacting both American and Venezuelan citizens.
Evans serves as a member of Congress representing Colorado and frequently uses social media platforms to comment on both local issues—such as drug policy—and broader international events.
