Congressman Gabe Evans, who represents Colorado’s 8th congressional district, posted a series of tweets on January 7 and 8, 2026, addressing cultural traditions and state policy issues.
On January 7, Evans acknowledged the significance of a traditional holiday for many families. (January 7, 2026).
Later that day, Evans commented on fiscal policy in Colorado. In his tweet he stated: “TABOR refunds don’t vanish on their own. Governor Polis’ spending addiction wiped them out. Less money back for hardworking families — more extremist policies for Colorado state Dems.” (January 7, 2026). The Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights (TABOR) is a constitutional measure in Colorado that limits government revenue growth and requires excess revenue to be refunded to taxpayers.
On January 8, Evans addressed energy policy in the state: “Energy demand is rising but Democrats keep pushing the most expensive options. Colorado’s own Energy Office found that Dems’ energy plan for the state costs ratepayers an additional $17 billion. That’s why I’m fighting for an all-of-the-above strategy with reliable power.” According to public reports from the Colorado Energy Office, there have been ongoing debates about the cost implications of proposed energy transitions in the state legislature.
Evans has previously served as a police officer before entering Congress and has focused much of his legislative attention on economic and energy issues affecting Coloradans.
