Congressman Gabe Evans has recently used his social media platform to comment on economic, public safety, and energy concerns affecting Colorado. In a series of posts made between December 15 and December 16, 2025, Evans criticized state leadership and issued warnings about potential power outages.
On December 15, Evans posted: “Regulations up. Housing costs up. People leaving. GDP falling. Colorado’s economy is worse off today because of @GovofCO’s and state Democrats’ failed policies that punish workers, small businesses, and families. Coloradans deserve better.”
The following day, he issued a public safety announcement regarding adverse weather conditions: “PSA: CO-08 — Due to strong winds along the Front Range, residents should prepare for possible Public Safety Power Shutoffs, which could last hours to days. My team will continue to monitor the situation and share updates as more information becomes available.” This warning comes as utilities in Colorado have increasingly relied on power shutoffs during high wind events to prevent wildfires—a strategy that has seen expanded use in recent years.
Later on December 16, Evans drew from his professional background in law enforcement and military service: “As a veteran and a former cop for a combined 22 years, I know how critically important it is to take care of our country and our communities. Coloradans deserve better than leftist laws that handcuff police and prioritize criminals over public safety.”
Evans serves as U.S. Representative for Colorado’s 8th Congressional District. His comments arrive amid ongoing debates in the state over economic growth rates—which have fluctuated following the COVID-19 pandemic—and recent legislative changes related to policing practices.
