Congressman Gabe Evans, who represents Colorado’s 8th congressional district, recently shared a series of statements on social media regarding federal funding decisions and public safety in Colorado.

On January 22, 2026, Evans announced his support for the latest government funding bill. In his post, he stated: “Today I proudly voted to fully fund our government for FY26 — strengthening our national security, supporting our service members, and securing over $18.9 million in wins for my constituents in #CO08!” (January 22, 2026).

Later that day, Evans addressed concerns about public safety under Colorado’s current administration. He wrote: “While @GovofCO touts he’s making Colorado safer, reality tells a completely different story.

Under his watch fentanyl overdose deaths in Denver rose 24% in 2025, despite having decreased across the country.

The stats speak for themselves.

Colorado deserves better.” (January 22, 2026).

On January 23, Evans commented on legislative amendments related to federal earmarks and facility funding. He posted: “Tonight I voted against Norman Amendment #2.

Several members continue to intentionally spread false narratives that pretend funding facilities equals funding ideology.

Let me be perfectly clear: IT DOESN’T.

The earmarks that remain funded will go toward infrastructure at” (January 23, 2026).

Evans’ remarks come as Congress finalizes appropriations for fiscal year 2026 and debates the allocation of federal funds through earmarks—congressionally directed spending typically used to finance local projects within lawmakers’ districts.
