Congressman Gabe Evans, who represents Colorado’s 8th Congressional District, shared a series of updates on his official Twitter account between May 11 and May 12, 2026. The posts highlighted student achievements, advancements in local law enforcement technology, and community engagement during National Police Week.
On May 11, Evans announced the winner of the district’s annual art competition: “Congratulations to our 2026 Congressional Art Competition winner, Antonio Gonzalez, for his incredible piece, ‘American Made Freedom.’ His work will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol, representing the creativity and talent of students across #CO08. Grateful to every student who”.
The following day, Evans commented on new policing technology being used locally: “I am impressed by the work Commerce City PD is doing with their Drone as First Responder program. By providing real-time aerial support to 911 calls, this technology is filling the role of police helicopters at a fraction of the cost — helping improve response times, increase”. The Drone as First Responder (DFR) initiative has been implemented by several police departments nationwide as a cost-effective way to provide rapid aerial assistance during emergencies.
Later that same day, Evans marked National Police Week by hosting an event for law enforcement officers from multiple counties: “This morning, I was proud to host Coffee with Colorado Cops in recognition of National Police Week. We had officers from across Adams, Larimer, and Weld Counties stop by for coffee, baked goods, and meaningful conversations about the communities they serve every day — including”. National Police Week is observed annually in May to honor law enforcement officers across the United States.
Evans’ posts reflect ongoing efforts within Colorado’s 8th District to celebrate youth achievement in arts and foster collaboration between elected officials and public safety personnel.
