Congressman Gabe Evans, who represents Colorado’s 8th congressional district, recently used his social media platform to highlight a series of local and national issues. His posts focused on economic development in Northern Colorado, the importance of intelligence sharing for national security, and concerns over state budget management.
On March 20, 2026, Evans shared details from a visit to a local business: “I toured the Bimbo Bakery in #CO08 and met with leadership and employees to learn about operations and jobs they support in Northern Colorado. Thank you to Bimbo Bakeries, for the discussion and for the work to keep our communities fed and our local economy strong.”
The following day, he addressed national security measures on the anniversary of a significant event: “25 years after 9/11, one thing is clear: intelligence sharing saves lives. DHS and local fusion centers help federal, state, and local law enforcement connect the dots and stop terrorist threats before they happen. That’s why we must fully fund DHS.” The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was established in response to the September 11 attacks as part of efforts to coordinate intelligence gathering among various agencies.
Later that same day, Evans commented on state fiscal policy: “Despite growing Colorado’s government from $29 billion to $51 billion in just 7 years (much of that coming from higher taxes & fees), @GovofCO has mismanaged the budget so badly that Dems are considering cutting vital programs for working families & students. An $850M budget” Over recent years, Colorado’s state budget has increased significantly due largely to rising tax revenues and fees; however, lawmakers have faced challenges balancing spending priorities amid shifting economic conditions.
Evans’ remarks come at a time when both economic growth initiatives in his district and broader debates over public safety funding remain central topics among policymakers.
