Congressman Gabe Evans, who represents Colorado’s 8th congressional district and is a former law enforcement officer, posted a series of messages on January 9, 2026, highlighting his recent legislative actions and support for public safety initiatives.

In his first post of the day, Evans criticized state Democrats’ policies, stating: “Out-of-touch Colorado Dems continue to make life more expensive for Coloradans, pushing their extremist agendas and government overreach. That’s why I voted for @HouseGOP’s Affordable Homes Act — lowering home prices and making homeownership attainable again.” (January 9, 2026).

Later in the afternoon, Evans acknowledged Law Enforcement Appreciation Day by referencing his background as a police officer. He wrote: “As a former cop in Colorado, I know the sacrifices law enforcement officers make every day, and the courage it takes to put on the badge. On Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, I’m proud to stand with those who protect our families and communities.” (January 9, 2026).

That evening, Evans announced new funding secured for public safety efforts in his district: “Hey #CO-08! Today I secured more than $1 million in funding to support victims of human trafficking, strengthen local crime labs, and modernize police technology. I’m so proud to deliver public safety wins for Coloradans across our district.” (January 9, 2026).

Evans has consistently positioned himself as an advocate for law enforcement and affordable housing during his tenure in Congress. His background as a former police officer informs many of his policy positions.
