Representative Gabe Evans announced on Apr. 30 that he voted in favor of the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026. The legislation aims to provide relief for farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers.

The passage of this bill is significant for Colorado’s agricultural community as it seeks to address longstanding challenges faced by local producers. It builds upon previous efforts such as the Working Families Tax Cut by ensuring affordability and offering further protections through market stabilization, supply chain improvements, rural energy investments, and support for new farmers.

Evans said, “After months of hearing from Colorado’s farmers, ranchers, and organizations on their farm bill priorities, I was proud to collaborate with House Agriculture Committee Chairman Thompson and other members to deliver this long-awaited relief and investment for our hardworking agricultural community. For years, Colorado’s farmers have been punished by ruling Denver Democrats, jeopardizing food security to achieve their radical climate agenda. Food security is national security, and the passage of this bipartisan bill today is not only a win for our farmers but for all of America.”

The Farm Bill includes provisions that enhance disaster programs; expand access to low-cost financing; protect conservation programs; create a Forest Conservation Easement Program; address trade barriers; improve nutrition program access; strengthen broadband connectivity in rural areas; and prioritize innovation within federal nutrition initiatives.

Key legislation co-sponsored by Evans included transferring Food for Peace from USAID to USDA (H.R. 1207), protecting U.S. producers from unfair trade barriers (H.R. 2558), reinstating USDA programs supporting local food purchases (H.R. 4782), eliminating redundant permitting processes (H.R. 3824), protecting American agriculture land from foreign adversaries (H.R. 1576), and making hot rotisserie chicken eligible under SNAP benefits (H.R. 8403).
