Northern Colorado lost a close game to Oral Roberts, falling 3-2 in the series finale on Apr. 4.

The game was competitive throughout, with both teams’ pitchers keeping the score low. Northern Colorado starter Jake Storey pitched for over five innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out two batters.

Oral Roberts scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take an early lead. Northern Colorado tied the game at 2-2 in the seventh inning when Ethan Sanchez reached base and Jake Bullard hit a two-run home run. However, Oral Roberts regained the lead later that inning with what would become the winning run.

Jaden Stone led Northern Colorado’s offense with two hits, while Bullard drove in both of his team’s runs. Lucas Stone took the loss after giving up Oral Roberts’ go-ahead run from the bullpen. The Bears limited their opponent to seven hits but could not score again before the end of the game.

Northern Colorado will next play Air Force in a midweek matchup scheduled for 3 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time in Colorado Springs.
