Northern Colorado baseball lost a close game to New Mexico, 12–11, in 10 innings on Sunday. The game, played in Albuquerque, was the fourth of the series and featured strong offensive efforts from both teams.
The Bears scored 11 runs on 14 hits and kept the game competitive until New Mexico managed a walk-off run in the bottom of the tenth inning. Brett Barber led Northern Colorado’s offense by going 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Jaden Stone also contributed, finishing 2-for-3 with two RBIs and drawing two walks while scoring multiple times.
Logan Pruski added to the team’s effort with a 2-for-6 performance, collecting two RBIs and stealing two bases. Ethan Mooser had a notable day as well, going 2-for-6 with a double and leading the team with three RBIs.
Northern Colorado responded to several scoring rallies by New Mexico with timely hitting, including eight hits with runners in scoring position and multiple runs driven in with two outs. The pitching staff used several pitchers throughout the high-scoring contest.
Despite being edged out at the end, Northern Colorado displayed resilience and received contributions from many players across their lineup. The Bears committed no errors during the game.
Next, Northern Colorado will travel to St. George for a four-game series against Utah Tech starting Friday, February 27.
