Northern Colorado volleyball has announced the addition of a new player to its roster. Head Coach Lyndsey Oates and her staff have welcomed Summer Snead, a middle blocker from Nashville, Tennessee, who previously played at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Snead is recognized for her experience and was given Honorable Mention recognition during her time at Alabama at Birmingham. She is the daughter of Tamika and Ed Snead. Her mother attended Middle Tennessee State University, while her father played basketball at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She also has one sibling, Esuan Snead.

According to the program, Snead chose Northern Colorado because it matched her needs both in athletics and academics. She cited trust in the coaching staff and appreciation for the team’s competitive environment as key reasons for joining. She described feeling immediately comfortable with the program.

Outside of volleyball, Snead enjoys building Lego sets and thrifting.

Head Coach Lyndsey Oates said, “Summer is as physical of an athlete that we have ever had at UNC. With some very specific skill training this spring, she could be a difference maker in our conference. Her ability to play high and fast was something we needed after graduating two senior middles.”
