Northern Colorado Bears prepare for two-day competition at Colorado Classic

The Northern Colorado track and field team will travel to Boulder this weekend to participate in the Colorado Classic, hosted by the University of Colorado. The event is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, February 6-7, at the Indoor Practice Facility. The meet will include a range of collegiate events such as sprints, hurdles, middle distance, distance races, jumps, and throws.

Field events are set to begin on Friday. Saturday’s schedule features running preliminaries and finals across multiple disciplines including the 60 meters, hurdles, middle-distance races, and relays.

In their previous outing, the University of Northern Colorado indoor track and field team saw notable performances. Camaria Corder broke her own school record in the triple jump for a second consecutive weekend with a winning mark of 13.07 meters. Alexia Austin and Daniel Beckford reached the finals in the 60-meter hurdles; Beckford finished third among men while Austin placed seventh for women. Monique Stewart secured fourth place in the 800 meters. The team also recorded competitive results in sprints and relays.

Men’s entries for this weekend include athletes competing in various events such as sprints (60m, 200m), hurdles (60mH), high jump (HJ), long jump (LJ), triple jump (TJ), shot put (SP), middle distance (800m, mile), distance races (3000m), and relay teams.

On the women’s side, competitors are entered in similar disciplines: sprints (60m, 200m), hurdles (60mHH), jumps (LJ, TJ, HJ), middle distance (800m, mile), longer distances (3000m, 5000m), and relays.

Looking ahead on their schedule, Northern Colorado is set to compete next at the Don Kirby Elite meet hosted by the University of New Mexico at Albuquerque Convention Center on February 13-14. This event will offer another opportunity for athletes to prepare ahead of the Big Sky Indoor Championships.
