Northern Colorado will host Idaho State for a three-game Big Sky Conference softball series at Gloria Rodriguez Field, starting with a doubleheader on Friday, Apr. 10 and concluding on Saturday, Apr. 11.

The matchup is important as both teams enter the weekend with identical conference records of 4-2. Northern Colorado has an overall record of 18-20 after winning its second consecutive conference series by taking two out of three games against Montana last week.

The Bears have demonstrated strong offensive performance this season, maintaining a team batting average of .304 across 38 games. Five regular starters are hitting above .300, with Amailee Morales leading at .436 and Ella Gonzales contributing a team-high 27 runs batted in (RBIs). Katie Walling and Hayden Nelson have also provided significant offense, while Krista Francia was recently named Big Sky Player of the Week following her efforts against Montana.

In pitching, Anna Wilming and Grace Algrim have combined for thirteen wins so far this season. Head coach Dedeann Pendleton-Helm now has ninety career wins with the program—second-most in school history—and is approaching Shana Easley’s record of one hundred ten victories.

Idaho State arrives with an overall record of twenty-seven wins and fifteen losses after defeating Portland State in their previous series. The Bengals have faced several nationally ranked opponents during nonconference play and recently won eleven out of their last fourteen games.

After this weekend’s home stand, Northern Colorado will travel to face Portland State for another three-game conference series from April 17 to April 18.
