Northern Colorado Bears will send athletes to two major track and field events on April 3-4 as part of their ongoing outdoor season, according to an announcement on Apr. 1. The team will participate in the Jerry Quiller Classic in Boulder, Colorado, and the Stanford Invitational in California.
The split competition is seen as a key step for the Bears as they prepare for the upcoming Big Sky season. Both meets are expected to feature strong regional and national fields, providing valuable experience for Northern Colorado’s athletes.
At the Jerry Quiller Classic, hosted by Colorado at Potts Track, Northern Colorado will compete in a range of running, jumping, and throwing events. Meanwhile, select distance and sprint athletes will take part in the Stanford Invitational at Cobbs Track & Angell Field—one of the country’s premier meets.
Athletes to watch from Northern Colorado include Daniel Beckford (110m hurdles), Edgar Garcia (sprints), Raphael Egbuchilem (400m), Johnny Fisher, Tyler Rogers, and a men’s 4×100 relay team that has posted a time of 40.28 seconds. On the women’s side, Caydence Brewer (sprints), Marely Del Campo (sprints), Alexia Austin (hurdles/sprints), Camaria Corder (long jump), Savanna Amack (triple jump), Regina Mpigachai (middle distance), and Monique Stewart (middle distance) are highlighted as key competitors.
The team reports steady improvement across both men’s and women’s squads with several personal-best performances recorded early in the outdoor season. Competing against strong fields this weekend is expected to help further their progress ahead of conference competition.
Looking ahead, Northern Colorado plans to compete next at a two-day meet hosted by Colorado School of Mines in Golden on April 10-11.
