Northern Colorado announced on May 1 that its track and field teams will compete in the Doug Max Invitational, scheduled for Saturday, May 2, at Jack Christiansen Track in Fort Collins.
The event is an important opportunity for both the men’s and women’s squads as they continue their outdoor season. The meet features a full schedule of running, jumping, and throwing events against a competitive regional field.
Key athletes for Northern Colorado include Daniel Beckford (10.69 seconds and 13.70 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles), Edgar Garcia (10.47 seconds and 48.20 seconds), Raphael Egbuchilem (46.65 seconds), Johnny Fisher, Tyler Rogers, and a men’s 4×100 relay team that has recorded a time of 40.28 seconds. On the women’s side, Caydence Brewer (12.28 seconds and 24.73 seconds), Marely Del Campo (12.19 seconds), Alexia Austin (12.37 seconds and 13.60 hurdles), Camaria Corder (12.38 seconds and long jump of 5.94 meters), and Savanna Amack (triple jump of 11.45 meters) are among those expected to perform strongly.
According to the announcement, “Northern Colorado continues to build consistency across both squads early in the outdoor season, already notching several personal-best performances and marks that rank among the program’s all-time lists.” The teams are set to face strong competition while gaining experience ahead of upcoming Big Sky Conference events.
Following this weekend’s invitational, Northern Colorado will prepare for its final regular-season meet at the Air Force Twilight Open.
