The Northern Colorado Bears men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams recorded several top finishes during the Jerry Quiller Classic in Boulder and the Stanford Invitational, according to an April 4 announcement.
These performances are significant as they highlight both individual achievements and team depth, with athletes setting all-time program marks and earning podium spots across a range of events.
At the Stanford Invitational, Monique Stewart finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:08.12, moving her to third all-time at Northern Colorado. Regina Mpigachai placed seventh in the same event and twelfth in the 1500 meters. Meanwhile, at the Jerry Quiller Classic, Ryan Pollyea won the men’s long jump with a leap of 6.93 meters and also took seventh place in javelin. Camaria Corder was second in women’s long jump while Savanna Amack finished third in triple jump; April Necaise earned third place in high jump.
On the track, Caydence Brewer captured first place in the women’s 200 meters (24.53), which is now sixth best all-time for UNC, and placed fourth in the 100 meters. Alexia Austin won the women’s 100 meter hurdles (13.76) and finished fifth in the 100 meters. In men’s sprints, Johnny Fisher was fourth over 200 meters; Edgar Garcia took fourth over 400 meters; Jaydon Sundbye was fifth over 100 meters; Rayvon Walkin secured second place in men’s hurdles.
The Bears’ relay squads also found success: The women’s team won their race while both men’s teams claimed second- and fourth-place finishes respectively to round out what organizers described as a well-rounded weekend for Northern Colorado.
