Northern Colorado Bears baseball lost both games of a doubleheader against Utah Tech in St. George, Utah. The first game ended with a 6–5 loss for the Bears, while the second game finished 11–5 in favor of Utah Tech.
In the opening game, Utah Tech scored three runs in each of the first and third innings to take an early lead. Northern Colorado narrowed the gap with a three-run fifth inning and brought the tying run to the plate in the seventh before falling short. Jake Bullard contributed by going 2-for-2 with a double and two walks, while Easton Bryant went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Mason Griffin hit a solo home run in the seventh inning and scored twice. Pitcher Jake Storey took the loss after giving up six runs (four earned) over five innings.
The Bears finished game one with nine hits but committed three errors. Despite late pressure following Griffin’s home run, Utah Tech’s bullpen secured the win.
In game two, Northern Colorado started strong with two runs in the first inning through a sacrifice fly from Brandon Sanchez and an RBI single by Jaden Stone. However, Utah Tech responded by scoring in each of their first four innings to build a significant lead.
The Bears rallied for three runs in the sixth inning thanks to contributions from Easton Bryant, Logan Pruski, and Ethan Mooser but could not overcome Utah Tech’s offense. Mooser led at the plate by going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI; Zeke Minic also went 2-for-4 with a double and scored once. Trevor Landen was charged with the loss after allowing five runs over three innings.
Utah Tech added more runs late to secure an 11–5 victory. Northern Colorado closed out game two with ten hits and three walks.
