Northern Colorado fell to Utah Valley with a 14–4 loss on Sunday afternoon at UCCU Ballpark. The Bears managed nine hits and mounted a four-run rally in the sixth inning, but Utah Valley’s early scoring and two big innings secured the win for the Wolverines.

Utah Valley opened the game with two runs in the first inning, using a double and a sacrifice fly to take an early lead. The Wolverines continued their momentum by adding single runs in the second and fourth innings, along with two more in the third, making it 5–0.

Northern Colorado threatened during the middle innings but did not score until the sixth. Jaden Stone started things off with a single, followed by Zeke Minic’s base hit to put two runners on. Logan Pruski then drove in Northern Colorado’s first run of the day with an RBI single to left field. Ethan Mooser delivered a three-run home run to right field, bringing the Bears within five at 9–4.

Utah Valley responded immediately in their half of the sixth inning. The Wolverines took advantage of hits and walks to score four runs, pushing their lead back out to 13–4 before adding another run in the seventh.

Mooser led Northern Colorado with three RBIs from his home run, while Minic had two hits. Pruski contributed an RBI and reached base twice, and Stone recorded both a hit and a run scored as part of Northern Colorado’s nine-hit effort.

Mitch Haythorn started for UNC on the mound, pitching three innings with three strikeouts. Asher Clark, Kaveh Meredith, and Mac Hibben pitched in relief for the remainder of the game.

The series concludes Monday when Northern Colorado faces Utah Valley again at 12:05 p.m. MT.
