Northern Colorado falls to Idaho State despite strong third-quarter performance

Northern Colorado’s women’s basketball team lost to Idaho State 73–69 on Saturday at Bank of Colorado Arena. The Bears led after the first quarter, but Idaho State took control in the second period, outscoring Northern Colorado and building a 37–27 halftime lead.

Northern Colorado struggled offensively in the second quarter but managed to stay close through defensive stops and rebounding. After halftime, the Bears improved their offense, scoring 25 points in the third quarter and shooting over 70 percent from the field. They reduced Idaho State’s lead to two points going into the final quarter.

The Bears had balanced scoring with Neenah George and Tatum West each recording 12 points. Gabi Fields added 11 points, while Aniah Hall scored 10. Julia Riley made three three-pointers, and Lilah Moore contributed two more from long range.

Tatum West led Northern Colorado with six rebounds and also had three steals. George and Fields both finished with three assists.

In the fourth quarter, Northern Colorado kept pace with Idaho State and tied the game in the final minute. However, Idaho State secured the win by making free throws late in the game.

Northern Colorado shot nearly 42 percent from the field and 35 percent from beyond the arc for the game.

The Bears will play their next games on the road against Sacramento State on February 12 and Portland State on February 14.
