Northern Colorado baseball was defeated by UNLV 11–1 in a midweek game held Tuesday night at Earl E. Wilson Stadium in Las Vegas. The Bears managed nine hits but struggled to capitalize, going 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position and leaving eight runners on base.
The Bears took an early lead in the second inning when Ethan Mooser reached base and Brett Barber drove him in with a two-out RBI single. However, Northern Colorado could not maintain momentum despite continued efforts at the plate. Both Barber and Jaden Stone finished the game with two hits each, while Zeke Minic, Logan Pruski, Ethan Mooser, Sam Pease, and Brien Kenny also contributed hits.
UNLV answered back quickly with a five-run second inning to seize control of the game. The Rebels extended their lead by adding two runs in the third inning, one in the fourth, and three more in the fifth.
Lucas Stone started for Northern Colorado and was charged with the loss after giving up five runs over 1.2 innings pitched. The Bears used five relief pitchers during the game; Logan Borboa delivered a scoreless inning out of the bullpen, while Asher Clark struck out three batters over the final two innings.
The teams will meet again for game two of their midweek series on Wednesday at 1:05 p.m. MT. Fans can watch live coverage on the UNLV Athletics YouTube Channel or follow updates through UNC Baseball’s official social media accounts.
