Northern Colorado men’s golf finished the first round of the Big Sky Conference Championship on April 27 in third place, recording a team score of 293 (+5) at Wigwam Resort.
The team’s performance puts them three strokes behind the leader as they head into the second round. This result keeps Northern Colorado within reach of the top spot as tournament play continues.
Cooper Tate led Northern Colorado with a round of 71 (-1), placing him third individually. Thomas Barnes-Grimes followed with an even-par 72 and is tied for fourth place. Kaelen Dulany posted a score of 74 (+2), tying for eleventh after day one. Tommie Clark and Matias Koropeski each shot rounds of 76 (+4), tying for twenty-first and contributing to the team’s overall standing.
After one round, Sacramento State leads at +2, followed by Idaho at +3 and Northern Colorado at +5. The rest of the field includes Francis Marion (+6), Weber State (+11), and Eastern Washington (+15).
Looking ahead, Northern Colorado aims to build on its strong start in hopes of climbing higher on the leaderboard during round two.
