Northern Colorado men’s golf finished the first round of the Compadres Collegiate in sixth place among nine teams on Sunday in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The opening round posed significant challenges for all competitors, but Northern Colorado managed to secure a solid position with more rounds ahead.
Cooper Tate and Kaelen Dulany led the Bears on the first day, each recording a score of +2 and tying for eighth place individually. Both golfers maintained steady performances throughout their rounds, keeping them within reach of the leaders as they head into the second day.
Lucas Raoul ended his round at +6, placing him tied for 28th. Rowan MacDonald finished tied for 37th with a score of +8, while Tommie Clark closed out the team scoring with a +12, tying for 51st. Takato Imoto competed as an individual and finished at +17.
The team leaderboard after the first round is led by UTSA, followed by UTRGV and North Texas tied for second. Western Carolina is fourth, ULM fifth, and Northern Colorado sixth. Drake, Morehead State, and Bellarmine round out the field.
