Northern Colorado men’s golf team completed the first two rounds of the Golden Nugget Invitational in Lake Charles, Louisiana, finishing the day at 12-under-par. The Bears are currently in seventh place out of 11 teams on the team leaderboard.
Thomas Barnes Grimes led Northern Colorado with a performance that put him tied for 13th individually at 5-under-par after 36 holes. He continued his strong play from the Loyola Intercollegiate and recorded a 5-under 67 in the second round. Cooper Tate and Kaelen Dulany also contributed to the team’s effort, each ending the day at 3-under-par and tied for 21st place.
Matias Koropeski finished with a score of 1-under-par, tying for 30th overall. Tommie Clark rounded out Northern Colorado’s scoring lineup at 8-over-par, which placed him tied for 63rd.
Rowan MacDonald competed as an individual and posted a total of 6-over-par, standing in 60th position on the individual leaderboard.
With several players near the top of their respective standings, Northern Colorado aims to improve its position in both team and individual categories during the final round of competition.
The current team standings have Lamar leading, followed by Tarleton State and UTSA. Abilene Christian and ULM are tied for fourth place, while Wichita State is sixth ahead of Northern Colorado.
