Northern Colorado softball prepares for Big Sky Tournament as No. 2 seed

Northern Colorado softball will enter the Big Sky Tournament as the No. 2 seed, with games set to begin May 4 in Pocatello, Idaho, according to a May 1 announcement from the university.

The tournament provides an opportunity for Northern Colorado to compete for a conference championship after closing out the regular season with momentum. The Bears finished their regular season with a record of 23-25 overall and went 9-6 in Big Sky play.

Northern Colorado’s team has shown growth and consistency throughout the year, placing six student-athletes on All-Big Sky teams across multiple positions. The honorees include Katie Walling (second base) and Ella Gonzales (utility/pitcher) on the First Team; Amailee Morales (first base) and KK Christie (outfield) on the Second Team; and Krista Francia (shortstop) and Hayden Nelson (third base) receiving Honorable Mention recognition.

The tournament schedule begins Monday, May 4, with Northern Colorado set to face either Portland State or Sacramento State at 4:30 p.m. All games will be available to watch on ESPN+, while live stats and updates will be provided through UNC Softball’s official social media channels.
