Northern Colorado softball secured an 8-7 victory over Weber State on Apr. 25, completing a series sweep and closing out the regular season at Gloria Rodriguez Field.
The win gave the Bears an 11-10 home record and momentum heading into postseason play. The game saw Northern Colorado overcome a six-run deficit after Weber State scored seven runs in the first two innings.
Amailee Morales sparked the comeback with a three-run home run in the third inning, helping cut into Weber State’s early lead. Ella Gonzales contributed by going 3-for-3 at the plate, including two doubles and two runs batted in. Jazzy Longo delivered a solo home run in the fifth inning to give Northern Colorado its first lead of the game. Anna Wilming pitched five shutout innings in relief to secure the win for the Bears.
The teams were evenly matched with 11 hits each, but Northern Colorado managed key hits when needed to complete their rally. The Bears now look ahead to postseason competition, with tournament play set to begin May 4 at Miller Ranch Stadium in Pocatello, Idaho.
