Northern Colorado will conclude its outdoor track and field campaign on May 8 by competing in the Air Force Twilight Open at the Cadet Outdoor Track & Field Complex.
The event, hosted by Air Force, features a full schedule of running, jumping, and throwing events against a strong regional field. Northern Colorado enters the meet with momentum after strong performances at the Doug Max Invitational at Colorado State.
In their most recent outing, several Northern Colorado athletes achieved top finishes. Tyler Rogers won the men’s long jump and placed sixth in the 200 meters. Daniel Beckford finished fifth in the 100 meters and third in the 110-meter hurdles. Other notable results included Johnny Fisher’s fifth place in the 200 meters and Raphael Egbuchilem’s fifth place in the 400 meters. On the women’s side, Caydence Brewer captured first place in the 200 meters and finished fourth in the 100 meters. Alexia Austin and Sherika Thomas earned podium spots in the women’s hurdles events, while Monique Stewart and Regina Mpigachai took second and third respectively in both middle-distance races.
The team has been building consistency throughout this outdoor season with several personal-best performances that rank among program records. The upcoming meet is expected to challenge both squads as they gain experience ahead of postseason competition.
After competing at Air Force, Northern Colorado will shift focus toward preparing for future meets including conference tournaments later this spring.
