Northern Colorado women’s basketball unveiled its newly renovated locker room on Tuesday, February 24, in Greeley, Colorado. The updated facility includes custom-designed lockers, improved lighting, modern technology upgrades, and prominent team branding. These changes are intended to enhance the experience for student-athletes and reflect the program’s focus on both tradition and innovation.
The renovation was funded by donors committed to supporting the program. The new space is designed to be a central location for team meetings, game preparation, and post-game reflection.
Head Coach Kristen Mattio commented on the project: “The standard inside this locker room matches the standard we expect on the court. Player wellness and the overall student-athlete experience drove every decision in this project. From fueling and recovery to team connection, our student-athletes sacrifice so much to represent UNC at a high level, and we wanted to give them a space that pours back into them every single day. This locker room exists because people believe in our student-athletes and believe in UNC Women’s Basketball. Seeing the players reactions as they walked into the locker room and lounge area for the first time reminded us why we do this. Watching them feel valued and celebrated was the best part of the entire project. We’re building something special at UNC, and this space reflects how serious we are about women’s basketball and competing for Big Sky Championships. We are incredibly thankful to the donors and supporters whose generosity made this transformational project possible and continues to shape the future of UNC Women’s Basketball.”
Players saw their new locker room for the first time during a reveal event held on Tuesday.
Supporters such as Fastbreak Club donors contributed significantly to making these improvements possible through ongoing investments in Northern Colorado women’s basketball.
