Northern Colorado women’s golf began play at the “Mo” Morial Tournament in Bryan, Texas, on Apr. 6 with a balanced team effort that placed them tied for eighth on the leaderboard after the first round.
The team’s opening performance is significant as it shows consistent scoring among players and keeps Northern Colorado within reach of higher standings as the tournament continues.
Samantha Colombine led Northern Colorado with a 1-over-par 73, recording rounds of 36 and 37 to finish near the top of the individual leaderboard. Timbre Shehee followed closely with a score of 77, recovering well on her back nine to contribute an important score for the team. Olivia Salonek posted a total of 78 by maintaining steady play across both nines. Jaci Hartman added a score of 79, while Carolina Fallotico finished with an improved back nine to close her day at 86.
After one round, four Bears golfers were separated by just six strokes, reflecting strong depth in their lineup. The team stands tied for eighth alongside Kansas and will look to improve its position in upcoming rounds against schools such as Tulsa, Missouri, Texas A&M, and Baylor.
