Northern Colorado women’s basketball will play its final home game of the regular season on Thursday, February 26, against Eastern Washington. The event will also serve as Senior Night, honoring graduate student-athletes. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. MT in Greeley.
After the home game, Northern Colorado will travel to Moscow, Idaho to face the Vandals on Saturday, February 28 at 4:30 p.m. MT.
In their most recent outing, Northern Colorado defeated Northern Arizona with a score of 81–53 at Findlay Toyota Court. The Bears led early and held Northern Arizona to only seven points in the second quarter. UNC shot nearly 50 percent from the field and forced 23 turnovers, resulting in 33 points off those turnovers. Heather Baymon scored a team-high 15 points while Tatum West recorded her seventh double-double this season with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Neenah George and Aniah Hall each contributed 12 points as well.
This win marked Northern Colorado’s first season with at least 20 victories since the 2018–19 campaign.
Northern Colorado has relied on its bench throughout the season, averaging over 31 points per game from reserve players—one of the highest marks nationally for bench scoring.
Several players are setting program records this year. Gabi Fields is now second all-time in career steals for UNC with 246 and sixth in assists with 356. She is also tied for ninth in games played (121), tied for second in games started (120), and ranks sixteenth in career free throws made (219). This season she stands ninth for single-season assists at UNC with a current total of 109.
Aniah Hall ranks tenth all-time in games played (119), sixth in blocked shots (91), and thirteenth in rebounds (613). Tatum West has moved into fourteenth place for career rebounds (599) and is tied for ninth in single-season steals (61). She is also second all-time for single-season offensive rebounds at UNC with 107; four more would break the program record set during the 2018–19 season.
Eastern Washington enters Thursday’s matchup holding a record of 13-15 overall and a conference mark of 6-9 after an offensive showing against Portland State where they scored 88 points. The Eagles average just under seventy points per game and have four players who average double-digit scoring figures; Ella Gallatin leads them with nearly sixteen points per contest.
The Bears lead Eastern Washington in their series history since joining Division I competition, holding a record of twenty-three wins to fifteen losses since their first meeting in this era. In their last ten meetings, both teams have won five times each.
Idaho comes into Saturday’s game riding a twelve-game winning streak dating back to mid-January and holds an overall record of twenty-three wins to five losses this season along with fourteen conference victories out of fifteen games played so far. Five Idaho players currently average double figures led by Hope Hassman at just over fourteen points per game.
Idaho leads its all-time series against Northern Colorado twelve games to ten since their first matchup as conference opponents; Idaho has won eight out of their last ten meetings against UNC.
