Northern Colorado women’s basketball secures first 20-win season since 2018–19

Northern Colorado secured an 81–53 win over Northern Arizona on Saturday at Findlay Toyota Court in Flagstaff, Arizona. The victory marks the Bears’ first 20-win season since the 2018–19 campaign.

The Bears took control early, leading 21–12 after the first quarter and holding Northern Arizona to just seven points in the second quarter. By halftime, Northern Colorado had built a 37–19 advantage.

Northern Colorado shot 49.2 percent from the field and scored 48 points in the paint. The team forced 23 turnovers, converting them into 33 points. Heather Baymon led with 15 points, including three three-pointers. Tatum West recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 12 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Neenah George also contributed 12 points, while Aniah Hall came off the bench to add another 12 points.

The Bears’ bench accounted for 44 points in total. Ruthie Loomis-Goltl added 10 points, and Lilah Moore was perfect from the field with seven points on three shots.

By the end of the third quarter, Northern Colorado led by 26 points and finished strong by shooting 60 percent in the fourth quarter. Northern Arizona was limited to under 39 percent shooting and managed only 26 points in the paint.

Several players are moving up in program records. Gabi Fields is now second all-time in career steals with 246 and sixth in assists with 356. She is tied for ninth in games played (121), tied for second in games started (120), and stands sixteenth in free throws made (219). Aniah Hall ranks tenth in games played (119), sixth in blocked shots (91), and thirteenth in rebounds (613). Tatum West is fourteenth all-time in rebounds (599) and tied for ninth for single-season steals (61).

Northern Colorado will play its regular-season home finale against Eastern Washington on Thursday, February 26 at Bank of Colorado Arena. The game will begin at 6 p.m. MT and will serve as Senior Day to honor graduating student-athletes.
