Northern Colorado women’s basketball has earned and accepted a spot in the Women’s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT), according to a March 15 announcement from the university. The team, led by head coach Kristen Mattio, will continue its season with this postseason opportunity.
The WNIT bracket and seeds are scheduled to be announced on Monday, March 16. This selection follows what the university describes as the Bears’ strongest campaign under Mattio, marked by consistent performances throughout the season.
This postseason bid is the program’s 14th overall appearance and eighth since Northern Colorado transitioned to NCAA Division I. It also marks the sixth time that the Bears have competed in the WNIT, with previous appearances in 2012, 2013, 2015, 2019, and most recently in 2024.
