Mines hosts international exchange on sustainable artisanal and small-scale mining
A delegation of students and faculty members from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia’s School of Mines in Medellín and the University of Texas at Arlington recently spent a week at Colorado School of Mines, hosted by the Responsible Mining, Resilient Communities project. Funding for the visit and project came from a $4 million grant from the National Science Foundation’s Partnerships in International Research and Education (PIRE) program and the Mines Humanitarian Engineering Program.

Western Breaks Ground on Mountaineer Bowl Events Complex Renovation
Western Colorado University leaders and supporters have broken ground on what will likely be a $15 million project—renovating the nation’s highest football stadium. The renovation is being made possible through a generous lead commitment by alumnus Paul M. Rady (class of 1978) and his wife, Katy. The gift comes on the heels of another transformative gift which established the Rady School of Computer Science & Engineering in partnership with the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Saseen Co-Authors National Lipid Association Official Scientific Statement on Statin Intolerance
The National Lipid Association (NLA) announced the release of its official scientific statement on Statin Intolerance: A New Definition and Key Considerations for Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease (ASCVD) Risk Reduction in the Statin Intolerant Patient. Statins are a class of medications that lower cholesterol and reduce cardiovascular events and cardiovascular death in patients at risk for ASCVD. The statement provides updates on the evidence-based facts about statins and statin intolerance and makes practical recommendations to aid clinicians in determining a therapeutic objective in contemporary clinical practice.

The Department of Regulatory Agencies states that “a sunrise review explores whether there is a need to regulate a currently unregulated profession or occupation”.
