Quinn Denker, a guard for the Northern Colorado Bears, has been named Big Sky Player of the Week following his performance at the Portland Invitational. The announcement was made by the Big Sky Conference on Tuesday. Denker was also selected for the Portland Invitational All-Tournament Team after leading Northern Colorado to two wins in three games and helping them achieve a 5-1 record to start the season.
During the tournament, Denker averaged 21 points, 5.7 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game. He shot 91.3 percent from the free-throw line, making 21 out of 23 attempts over three games while playing more than 35 minutes per contest.
In the opening game against St. Thomas, Denker scored 21 points and had six assists in a close loss. Against Portland, he scored 29 points with seven assists and was perfect from the free-throw line on ten attempts. In the final game versus Cal State Fullerton, Denker contributed 13 points and four assists as Northern Colorado secured a win.
Denker’s total for the weekend was 63 points, leading his team in both scoring and assists while maintaining high efficiency under pressure. This is his first time receiving Big Sky Player of the Week honors and represents Northern Colorado’s first weekly award of this basketball season.
