Northern Colorado Track and Field athletes Jameson Rembert and Ryan Pollyea moved into the top 10 after the first day of competition at the Big Sky Outdoor Track & Field Championships, according to a May 13 update. The event is taking place at Mt. Hood Community College.
The progress of Rembert and Pollyea is significant as it places both competitors in strong positions going into the second day of the men’s decathlon. Rembert finished ninth overall with a total of 2,896 points, bolstered by his shot-put performance where he secured second place in the field with a throw of 11.94 meters for 603 points. He also recorded a ninth-place finish in the 100 meters with a time of 12.15 seconds.
Pollyea followed closely behind in tenth place, earning 2,795 points across five events on opening day. His standout result came in the 100 meters, where he placed third in his section with a time of 11.14 seconds for an impressive score of 830 points. Pollyea also contributed key performances in long jump (6.48 meters), shot put (10.53 meters), and finished his day running the 400 meters in just over fifty-one seconds.
Both athletes cleared heights of 1.79 meters during their high jump attempts before concluding Day One with their respective times in the final event, the men’s decathlon’s initial slate.
Competition will resume on day two as participants take on hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw, and conclude with a distance run to determine final standings.
