Northern Colorado catcher Sam Pease was named the Kwik Star Peak Performer of the Week, according to a May 12 announcement from the league office. The recognition comes after his strong performance during the Bears’ weekend baseball series against North Dakota State. This is Pease’s first weekly award of the 2026 season.
Pease contributed significantly at bat throughout the three-game series, hitting .600 with six runs batted in and five runs scored. He reached base often and delivered in important moments, supporting Northern Colorado’s offense against North Dakota State’s pitching staff. His efforts included an extra-base hit, a .700 slugging percentage, and a .692 on-base percentage.
The junior catcher also showed discipline by drawing two walks and striking out only once over the course of the series. Defensively, he recorded 19 putouts behind home plate without committing any errors while working with the Bears’ pitchers.
“Excited for Sam to receive the recognition he’s earned after battling a year of injuries. His hard work and devotion towards the team is inspiring,” said Head Coach Mike Anderson.
Pease’s all-around contributions were important in helping Northern Colorado secure its weekend series win over North Dakota State and demonstrated his value both offensively and defensively.
