Weld County issued the following announcement on Sept. 16.

Mark your calendars and via phone join the next Weld County Telephone Town Hall on September 21 at 5:00 p.m. During this time, residents can listen to county updates regarding COVID-19 as well as the business recovery program also related to COVID-19.

“The board has information and updates for residents and businesses alike,” said Commissioner Chair Mike Freeman. “From the emergency response to the business recovery fund, we think residents will find the call informative.”

The county held its first telephone town hall in May and second one in June. Approximately 8,000 people participated on those calls. “We’ve found this format to be successful in providing information to residents,” Freeman said.

Topics for the September Telephone Town Hall will include an update on the Office of Emergency Management’s role in the COVID-19 response as well as an update on the Health Department. Commissioners will also talk about the Weld Recovery Fund, which is designed to provide assistance to Weld County businesses impacted by COVID-19.

Everyone is invited to call in and listen as well as ask questions during the event, which is anticipated to last for an hour. To participate, call 877-229-8493 and enter code 119533. The public can also listen to the call on the county’s website by visiting https://www.weldgov.com/departments/commissioners/public_meetings/commissioner_town_hall_meetings.

Vekeo, the vendor providing the telephone town hall service, will initiate calls to some Weld County residents just prior to the event starting on Monday. Vekeo accesses phone numbers from Weld County registered voter lists and will randomly select 52,000 phone numbers to call for the event. All county residents, however, are invited to call in and participate.
