WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Yadira Caraveo, M.D. (CO-08) on April 19 announced she has requested $39,436,720 in federal funding for 15 community projects through the House Appropriations Community Project Funding process. Caraveo’s projects focus on improving infrastructure and helping communities in Colorado’s brand new 8th Congressional District.
“I will always use my position to advocate for the needs of our District,” said Congresswoman Caraveo. “I’m proud to put forth 15 strong community projects that will improve our roads, reinforce our water lines, and improve the everyday lives of hardworking families. It’s my honor to be the first Member to represent the 8th District and I will fight hard to deliver this funding for Adams, Weld, and Larimer Counties.”
Caraveo submitted funding requests for the following CO-08 projects:
$3,000,000 for the Brighton Core City Water Line Replacement

Each House Member is allowed to submit up to fifteen Community Project Funding requests to benefit state or local government grantees or eligible nonprofits. The Appropriations Committee then considers Member requests when writing the annual spending bill. Though each member could submit up to fifteen requests, no request is guaranteed.
Importantly, the process includes key public transparency and accountability measures to ensure public trust in the process. Members of Congress must certify that they and their immediate family have no financial interests in the projects they request, and they must post each request to their website. There is a ban on directing Community Project Funding to for-profit entities. Lastly, the Appropriations Committee will limit Community Project Funding to no more than 0.5 percent of discretionary spending.
