WASHINGTON – On April 27, 2023, Congresswoman Yadira Caraveo, M.D. (CO-08), Ranking Member on the House Agriculture Subcommittee on Commodity Markets, Digital Assets, and Rural Development, today led a hearing on regulation and the future of digital assets like cryptocurrency. Today’s Subcommittee hearing was an opportunity for Caraveo, Subcommittee Chairman Dusty Johnson (SD-At Large), and other Committee members to evaluate current digital assets regulation, its impact on innovation and growth in United States markets, and whether Americans are receiving necessary customer protections.

“It is vital we closely examine current regulations to ensure investors are appropriately protected and that our agencies have the necessary authorities to oversee this new and evolving industry,” said Congresswoman Caraveo.
Millions of Americans trade digital assets daily in markets that do not have clear and comprehensive federal regulatory oversight, and entrepreneurs across the country struggle with whether to pursue fintech innovation for fear of unknowingly stepping on hidden regulatory land mines.
