WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Yadira Caraveo, M.D. (CO-08) on May 23 issued the following statement after voting against S.J. Res. 11, Speaker McCarthy’s cynical attempt to undo the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) rule entitled “Control of Air Pollution from New Motor Vehicles: Heavy-Duty Engine and Vehicle Standards.” This resolution would walk back emissions standards on heavy-duty trucks beginning in Model Year 2027 and block the EPA from ever taking similar action.
“As a pediatrician in Adams County, I knew whenever I woke up to smog covering the Front Range, I would probably have to send kids to the ER that day with asthma attacks and breathing problems. We cannot put politics ahead of the health and wellness of our families. We must continue moving in the right direction by making policies that support cleaner air. And by doing so, we can also help position American vehicle companies to lead in the economy of the future.”
