The City of Greeley’s annual Fishing Derby at Sanborn Park (2032 28th Ave.) is from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 3. This family-friendly event is free and open to the public. No prior experience is needed. Anglers aged five and older can surround the lake with their pole and tackle to see who will catch the biggest fish.

Fishing Derby Prizes

Register for derby giveaways at the Greeley Recreation tent, located on the east side of the lake by the playground beginning at 7:30 a.m. Prizes will be given away every half hour throughout the event.

Colorado’s Free Fishing Weekend

The first weekend in June is a free fishing weekend in Colorado. Fishing licenses are not necessary to participate in the derby. The Colorado Division of Wildlife will stock the lake with fresh trout before the event. There will be ample fishing opportunities for everyone. Come early to find the perfect fishing hole and sign up for giveaways the day of the event.
