The City of Greeley is one of 17 cities selected for a national program to boost economic and workforce development.
Through the Good Jobs, Great Cities Learning Network, the city will:
- Get assistance to secure federal grants to boost economic development
- Learn from other cities and national providers
- Have access to tools and resources to help the city promote job growth in local industries.
The National League of Cities (NLC) and the Department of Labor (DOL) sponsor the program. Its purpose is to help cities take advantage of next-generation development opportunities made possible by investments from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the CHIPS and Science Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act.
The Learning Network will help to support the city’s commitment to community innovation. Greeley’s Economic Development Manager emphasized the importance of having a skilled workforce. He noted opportunities surrounding federal investments in infrastructure, clean energy, and advanced manufacturing.
“By investing in our community and developing a skilled workforce, city leaders can take full advantage of these opportunities,” said Philip McCready, Ph.D. “We can contribute to building the next-generation infrastructure and strengthen the economy.”
