Northern Colorado women’s basketball lost to Idaho 55-41 on Saturday at ICCU Arena in Moscow, Idaho. The Bears, now 21-9 overall and 12-5 in conference play, started the game with a strong first quarter, leading 17-13 thanks to balanced scoring and solid inside play.
Tatum West led Northern Colorado early, recording her eighth double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Neenah George contributed seven points and three assists. However, after shooting 50% in the opening quarter, Northern Colorado’s offense slowed during the second and third quarters.
Idaho took advantage of these struggles by using a combination of inside scoring and accurate free-throw shooting to take control in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Idaho outscored Northern Colorado 20-10 to secure a 14-point win.
Northern Colorado finished the game shooting 27.3% from the field and just 10.5% from three-point range but made nine out of eleven free throws. West led all players with ten rebounds, while Heather Baymon added six points and five rebounds. Julia Riley collected six rebounds as well.
For Idaho, Hope Hassmann scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Kyra Gardner added a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds. The Vandals converted 19-of-25 free throws.
The Bears will conclude their regular season on the road against Montana in Missoula, with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m. MT.
Several Northern Colorado players continue to move up in school records. Gabi Fields is now second all-time in career steals (251), fifth in career assists (362), tied for seventh in games played (123), second in games started (122), and tied for fifth for single-season steals (72). Aniah Hall is tied for ninth in games played (121), sixth in career blocked shots (93), and thirteenth in career rebounds (623). Tatum West ranks fourteenth all-time in career rebounds (618) and seventh for single-season steals (64).
