UNC announces free girls’ sports clinic as part of National Girls and Women in Sports Day

UNC Athletics, in partnership with the Colorado Women’s Sports Fund Association, will hold its annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Saturday, February 7. The event coincides with the women’s basketball game against Idaho State and features a free sports clinic for girls ages 5 to 13 at the UNC Campus Recreation Center.

The clinic is open to the public and offers instruction in several sports, including basketball, volleyball, soccer, cheerleading, and track & field. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., with activities starting at noon. UNC student-athletes will lead drills and training sessions during the clinic.

According to organizers, “Instructions and training drills conducted by UNC student-athletes, with the first 150 registrants receiving the official 2026 National Girls and Women in Sports Day t-shirt, sponsored by SCHEELS.”

Participants will receive complimentary tickets to attend the women’s basketball game at 2 p.m. Parents and families can purchase discounted tickets for the game. All attendees are also eligible for camp scholarships and other prizes provided by UNC Athletics.
