City of Greeley issued the following announcement on Sept. 17.
Construction work will close 8th Street for about a month on the eastern side of the U.S. 85 intersection.
Scheduled to start Sept. 22, construction crews must close a short stretch of 8th Street, between U.S. 85 and 1st Avenue, in preparation for future expansion and improvement work on the East 8th Street corridor next year.
Signs will direct drivers to a detour along 5th Street and 1st Avenue.
In addition to the City of Greeley’s work at the intersection, starting in about three weeks, utility crews will work on undergrounding and relocating utilities in advance of the work scheduled for next year. During the next few months, utility work along the road may result in shoulder and individual lane closures.
The majority of the work during the next several months should occur at various locations between U.S. 85 and Ash Avenue.
Officials anticipate traffic delays during this work.
