CITY OF FORT MORGAN: Reminder: City Facilities Impacted by COVID Restrictions

Coronavirus update920

City of Fort Morgan issued the following announcement on Dec. 3.

The City of Fort Morgan reminds residents that most city facilities remain affected by the latest state COVID designation for Morgan County, with some facilities closed to the public and others operating under tighter restrictions.

The city took action Nov. 20 to close several city buildings and implement new restrictions in response to a spike in COVID-19 cases and the state’s designation of Morgan County to the “Red - Severe Risk” level.

City Hall, the Fort Morgan Museum, the Cemetery office, the Armory Recreation Center and the Gene Doty Senior Center will remain closed until the “Red – Severe Risk” status for Morgan County improves, and conditions are appropriate to open. The Fort Morgan Public Library will stay open with mask, social distancing and other regulations and limitations in place, and Quail Dunes Golf Course will be open weather permitting and with several COVID restrictions.

Most city staff are still working and continue to serve residents either by phone, e-mail or online. A phone contact list accompanies this news release, and more information can be found on the city’s website at www.cityofortmorgan.com. Some services can be arranged by appointment if necessary – for example, citizens can call (970) 867-3908 to set an appointment with the cemetery office.

The Utility Billing customer service lobby in the City Complex is also open with new protective measures installed in that facility at 710 E. Railroad Ave. Utility customers are still encouraged to use the utility billing drive-up window or drop box if possible.

The Human Resources/Risk Management office at the south end of the City Complex building is closed but staff can be contacted using the doorbell on the south wall near the entrance and can provide service through an adjacent service window. The Planning & Zoning and Building Departments in the old senior center at the City Complex are open with mask and social distancing requirements in place.

The front office at the Fort Morgan Police Department is open but will close from noon to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. This does not include the lobby and the stairs leading down to the Municipal Court. The lobby phone can be used to auto-dial the communications center when the police records staff is at lunch. Municipal Court is holding court sessions on scheduled days with distancing and mask requirements.

At Quail Dunes Golf Course, the clubhouse is closed to patrons other than those checking in to play golf.  Masks and social distancing will be required inside the clubhouse at all times. All surfaces of the pro shop will be sanitized between customers.

The Quail Dunes Grill will be open on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a limited menu for takeout orders only. Patrons can call 867-5990 to place an order.  Cold sandwiches will be available Sunday through Thursday from the pro shop.

Single riding in golf carts is encouraged but not required. Strangers will not be asked to ride together, families and parties who arrived together will be allowed to share carts. Carts will be disinfected between each use. Flag sticks should not be handled and should be left in the cup at all times.

All of these closures and restrictions will continue to be in place until further notice. Most city public meetings, including meetings of the city council and city advisory boards, as well as most city staff meetings will be conducted remotely during this time. Residents can participate in council meetings by using the link that will be posted with each meeting agenda on the city website.

City officials continue to monitor the evolving coronavirus situation in the community and take guidance from regional and state public health agencies. We encourage all patrons to do their share and follow the CDPHE guidelines, by wearing masks when around others and social distancing at all times.
